WANA: Pakistan Army under a special tree plantation drive Monday distributed 30,000 saplings and 1500 fruit plants free of cast among tribal people to strengthen the forest in South Waziristan Agency (SWA). Range Officer of Forest Department, Wazir Khan said that the drive has been started from Shershak area of Kaniguram where media was especially engaged to create awareness among the people.
He said that Pak Army was paying special attention to strengthening of forests in SWA besides undertaking various other development projects and peace measures. He said that Pak Army invited media teams from districts DI Khan, Tank and from SWA to participate in the tree plantation campaign.
Wazir Khan said that terrorists had caused huge loss to forests in SWA as they were involved in illegal cutting of trees and converting forests into barren land, adding that after military operation against terrorists the situation had improved and Pak Army paid special attention to tree plantation.
