Army supports mainstreaming of FATA in line with aspirations of tribal brothers: COAS

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa interacted with FATA delegations of Tribal elders and Youth Jirga on Wednesday.

On the occasion, Commander Peshawar Corps, DG ISI, CGS and other senior Army officers were also present.

General Qamar Bajwa held detailed discussion with both delegations separately. The delegations acknowledged and appreciated Pakistan Army’s sacrifices, efforts and contributions for peace, stability and socio economic development of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA). They expressed their respective views regarding mainstreaming of FATA and way forward.

The Army Chief lauded tribal elders and youth for their determination and support to Pakistan Army in fight against terrorism. He valued their views regarding future of FATA.

“Achievement through sacrifices of brave tribal people of FATA area being consolidated while we transit from relative stability to enduring peace,” he added.

General Qamar Bajwa also shared his engagement with Afghan leadership for enhance cooperation for security measures along Pak-Afghan border. He assured both delegations that Pakistan Army fully supports mainstreaming of FATA and shall pursue it in line with aspirations of our tribal brothers.

He advised the youth to continue playing their role torwards peace and progress of FATA and Pakistan as they are the future leaders.
