Around 2 million women without CNIC in KP

PESHAWAR: Female members of different political parties in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly has said that around 2.0 million women have no Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

This was said in a meeting attended by women parliamentarians with FAFEN on Thursday.

While talking to Media Qaumi Watan Party MPA Miraj Hamayun Khan said that around two million women were without CNIC in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa due to which they were unable to cast their vote as were not registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan.

She said that as 2018 general elections were just around the corner the NADRA and Election Commission of Pakistan should work to provide CNICs to the women who did not have the cards.

In the meeting members KP Assembly Uzma Khan, Fauzia Bibi, Maliha were also present and demanded to provide ID card to the women of KP that they can also use the power of vote in the next general election in the country as it was their rights.

Meanwhile Khyber Pakhtunkhwa women parliamentary leader also submitted a resolution in KP assembly about the lack of CNIC card of two million women in KP.
