Art contest for young women organized in Kabul City

KABUL (TOLOnews): An educational institution reported the launch of a painting competition among one hundred female students in the capital.

The officials of this institution said that the purpose of launching this competition is to identify talents and showcase the students’ paintings.

Sayed Hossein Mohseni, the organizer of the competition, said: “In this competition that we organized, the number of students reached 100. The goal is to encourage students and promote art in the community.”

Some participants in this competition are calling for more programs like this to be organized.

They also demand the reopening of schools and universities for girls.

Sakina, a participant, said: “The reason I participated in this program was that I wanted to test myself to see what level I have reached and how much I have improved.” Another participant, Rahima, said: “The reason I turned to painting was that I wanted to reduce my depression because staying at home is very difficult.”

At the same time, a seven-day seminar and painting exhibition has also been organized by an institution for female students in another part of the capital.

\Sayed Anwar, the seminar organizer, said: “The purpose of holding this program is to motivate young people, especially women. More than 120 people participated in this program and showcased their art.”

Sahar, a participant, said: “My request from the Islamic Emirate is to create more such spaces so that we can support our society through our work.”

After the closure of schools for girls above the sixth grade, many girls have turned to arts such as painting, handicrafts, carpet weaving, calligraphy, and embroidery.
