LAHORE: An art exhibition titled “Blood in the Valley” was held at Lahore’s Alhamra Art Gallery on Wednesday to show solidarity with the people of Indian occupied Kashmir as the country observed Kashmir Solidarity Day
The exhibition featured 50 artworks from different artists and highlighted Kashmiris’ struggle for freedom. The exhibition was attended by a large gathering of people including government, civil functionaries and important personalities from different walks of life.
Law Minister and Chairman Kashmir Committee Punjab Muhammad Raja Basharat was the chief guest of the exhibition and inaugurated the event along with Executive Director Alhamra Athar Ali Khan.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Basharat said that the international community and the United Nations have to fulfil their responsibility to protect innocent Kashmiris from the crimes against humanity being committed by occupying Indian forces in the valley.
He reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to extend all possible political, moral and diplomatic support to Kashmiris until they attain their inalienable right to self-determination.
“In this time of need, all Pakistanis are standing with Kashmiris,” Basharat said. “February 5 gives us a lesson that everyone must be wise, brave and united in critical times.”
Adding to the comments of Basharat, Khan said, “We believe in supporting and promoting regional and international peace and stability by resolving all disputes and conflicts.”
“The exhibition was arranged to highlight the killing of innocents Kashmiris. Kashmir dispute is an internationally recognised issue and needs to be resolved in accordance with the United Nations Security Council Resolution resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” he added.
Before the exhibition, a walk was organised to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir in which Alhamra’s officers, employees, artists and other audience members participated to raise their voice in favour of the Kashmiri people.
