Art and painting exhibition at Malakand University concluded

TIMERGARA:  A two day art and painting exhibition jointly arranged by the University of Malakand (UoM), Abdul Wali Khan University (AWKU) Mardan and Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar concluded at Gymnasium hall at UoM here on Tuesday.

The exhibition was organized under the aegis of Pakhtunkhwa College of Arts

Students from the UoM, AWKU Mardan and SSBWU Peshawar showed keen interest in the event during which portraits, photography and paintings made by students were displayed.

Hundreds of visitors showed up on final day of the exhibition. Talking to local journalists the visitors mostly female students said they enjoyed the handmade paintings and portraits pertaining to culture and civilization.

They said that Malakand region had witnessed the worst kind of militancy in the near past wherein families were forced to migrate from the area and take shelter in peaceful environment. They said the art and painting exhibition and visit of students from other universities provide them an opportunity for sharing knowledge and experiences.

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) of the varsity Shakir Khan told the exhibition was aimed to encourage students and showcased their artifacts.

The UoM vice chancellor Prof Dr Gul Zaman said the event was encouraging both for the visitors and the varsity administration. He said he wished to open the department of arts and culture in the varsity. The VC said they would organize more such events for students’ learning and entertainment. He said the students had great potential and attraction in arts and culture and the varsity would promote their talent.
