Imran condemns Peshawar attack, calls for KP-FATA merger

PESHAWAR (APP): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan Wednesday condemned terrorist incidents in Peshawar and Lahore, calling for the merger of Federally Administered Tribal Areas with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Speaking at a press conference, Imran condemned Peshawar suicide attack which targeted members of the judiciary and Sunday's bombing in Lahore. A driver was killed and 18 people injured Wednesday when a suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into a vehicle carrying civil judges in the upscale Hayatabad area of Peshawar, according to hospital and police officials.

Officials confirmed that a District and Sessions judge Asif Jadoon and three other female members of the judiciary were among the injured. Noting the entire country backed the National Action Plan aimed at wiping out all terrorists from the country, he emphasised FATA needs to be settled to achieve NAP's benefits.

"The sooner we merge FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the better it would be. For this would make FATA better and independent," said the PTI chief. "There is a consensus on FATA's proposed merger with KP and the process now needs to be expedited."
