ISLAMABAD (NNI): Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria on Thursday said that India has been involved in terrorist activities in Pakistan.
“Pakistan has taken issue to the UN Secretary General about involvement of India in terrorist activities in Pakistan,” he said while talking to media in Islamabad. “Pakistan is biggest victim of terrorism,” he said. The spokesperson strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Lahore, Wednesday’s attack on Judges’ vehicle in Hayatabad and earlier, martyrdom of bomb disposal squad in Quetta. To a question, the spokesman said investigation is underway in Lahore bombing and some arrests have been made.
The Spokesperson warned that, “Those behind these terrorist attacks should know that our resilient nation remains undeterred by such cowardly acts rather it further emboldens our resolve to deal with our enemies and the enemies of humanity decisively and eliminate the menace.” About Pakistan China cooperation in the context of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and threats emanating from India side, he said, “It is a regional economic development project and will benefits the entire region.”
Answering a question, Nafees Zakaria said, “Indian defence build up is not in the interest of the region. It is a matter of grave concern and endangering the peace in the region and disturbing the strategic balance.” Replying to another question, the Spokesman said continuing instability in Afghanistan has created space for the non-state actors and terrorist organizations to find their foothold in that country. He said, “Jamatul Ahrar which is based in Afghanistan claims carrying out terrorist’s incidents in Pakistan.”
He said, “We have raised the issue terrorist activities on Pakistan soil from across the border. We have also urged the Afghan leadership to take necessary steps to address our concern.” He said, “India is also violating ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) and Working Boundary (WB) resulting into loss of precious civilian lives.” He condemned the martyrdom of three brave soldiers at LoC due to Indian unprovoked ceasefire violations. He said, “Pakistan has repeatedly lodged protest with Indian in this regard.”
He said, “We salute personnel of our valiant Law Enforcement Agencies, who laid their lives for us,” adding that we are deeply saddened at the loss of our brethren’s precious lives and we pray for them. He said India is desperately wants to divert attention of world community from atrocities being committed in Occupied Kashmir by the Indian forces. Nafees Zakaria said, “Indian occupation forces in their continued act of state terrorism blasted a house in Kulgam, resulting in the death of, reportedly, six Kashmiris on February 13.” He said that, “Around 30 were injured, when Indian forces opened fire on peaceful demonstrators.” “Pellet guns were used ruthlessly,” he underscored.
“Entire Hurriyat Leadership, including Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq and Yasin Malik have been arrested to deny them protest against killings of innocent Kashmiris,” he said. “Chairperson of Dukhtaran-e-Millat, Aasiya Andrabi and her associate Sofi Fahmeeda remain in continuous house arrest. Kashmiris are constantly denied offering of Juma prayers,” he asserted. He said, “India’s continued atrocities against defenceless Kashmiris in IOK and violation of Kashmiris’ fundamental rights are highly condemnable.”
He urged the International Community to play role to permanently resolve the dispute of Kashmir in accordance with the UNSC resolutions and “Call India to account for its crimes against humanity in Indian occupied Kashmir.”
“Pakistan remains committed to the Kashmiris’ legitimate movement for self determination,” he said.
