HYDERABAD (INP) A female student of Sindh University, Jamshoro, succumbed to injuries hours after she was hit by a varsity bus on campus on Thursday.
Shaista Memon, a final-year-student of the physics department, was hit by a bus privately hired by the university at the university’s Zero Point location. She was rushed to Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro where she underwent a surgery but could not survive.
The family members of the victims and students of Sindh University staged a sit-in outside LUMHS and at the railway crossing where they protested against the transport management of the university. The Vice Chancellor of the University has suspended the committee dealing with the transport.
This is a second road accident in Sindh University within one week. On February 8, a computer science student, Jahanzeb Arain, fell from the gate of a varsity bus and was run over by the vehicle’s rear tyre. The academia has time and again expressed concern over the bad state of transport service in the university.
