Aamir Khan reportedly paid Rs1.75 billion for Dangal

NEW DELHI (AFP): Bollywood perfectionist Aamir Khan, who turned 52 last week, is still hiding high from the success of his last venture, Dangal.

The feature, which was based on a real life story of two female wrestlers, is reported to have earned Rs5.32 billion in national and international markets. Aamir Khan’s efforts to make the movie a success have not gone unpaid and he got a hefty sum of Rs1.75billion for the movie, according to Indian media.

Aamir Khan is one of the few Bollywood actors who use the profit sharing technique to get paid. He charges producers about 33 per cent of the movie’s profit.

An industry insider revealed that the actor took Rs0.35 billion upfront and will take 33 percent of the movie’s profit. The actor will be seen in an extended cameo in his home production, Secret Superstar. Zaira Wasim, who played his daughter in Dangal, is the movie’s lead.
