ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Asad Umar will chair a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) on Tuesday to discuss a number of financial matters.
According to reports, the ECC meeting will discuss the six-point agenda in today’s meeting, which includes discussion and approval of a summary with regard to a financial support package for the national flag carrier. Besides, it would also deliberate on measures to enhance cotton yield in the country.
Reports added that summaries with regard to essential amendments for Gwadar Port and Gwadar Free Zone and petroleum product marketing licenses will also be presented before the committee.
During the last meeting on Feb 4, the ECC had directed the power and petroleum divisions to provide gas and power connections to special economic zones within one month.
An official of the Board of Investment gave a briefing on the Economic Zones to the cabinet committee.
The meeting directed the federal government’s power and petroleum division to submit a report on the requirement of gas and electricity to the ECC within one month. The ECC also approved 833 million rupees funds for the Machine Tool Factory.
