F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad Monday extended the interim bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar till June 10 next in the case registered at Tarnol police station.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra heard the case. Asad Umar appeared before the court for hearing of the case.

“Prosecutor’s mother is dead. So, he will not be able to appear,” the government’s lawyer told the court.

“The hearing should be adjourned. The prosecutor will appear at the next hearing,” he added.

“You and I both know that there is nothing in this case,” Asad Umar said to the judge.

“I am the only man who has statements regarding May 9 and 10,” he added.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till June 10 next.

Talking informally to newsmen outside ECP office, Asad Umar dubbed May 9 incidents a “conspiracy” against journalists, and not against PTI.

Responding to a question, Asad Umar said he has no contact with Jahangir Khan Tareen.

He said there is no improvement in the political upheaval the PTI is facing.
