F.P. Report
LAHORE: Pakistan and India are expected to lock horns in their first encounter of Asia Cup 2023 on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka.
Indian media reports said the four matches of the tournament would be played in Pakistan, which is hosting this year’s event, while remaining nine matches would be played in Sri Lanka under a hybrid model.
The hybrid model was adopted after India declined to visit Pakistan due to political tensions between the neighbouring countries.
The Asia Cricket Council is expected to announce the schedule of the tournament today (July 19).
On July 15, a meeting was held between the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ACC officials in respect of finalising the schedule of the Asia Cup 2023, logistical and organizational arrangements and marketing campaigns.
The finalised schedule is likely to be announced during this week. With the opening match scheduled to kick off in Pakistan, the PCB, as the event host, looks forward to welcoming cricket fans from across the world to experience Pakistan’s renowned hospitality.
