MARDAN: The prime suspect in murder and rape case of four years-old baby girl ‘Asma’, confessed of his of crimes before senior civil judge Mardan here on Monday.
Janas Khan, Superintendent of Police Investigation Mardan, while talking to this correspondent told that the main accused in the Asma case identified as Muhammad Nabi was presented in the court of senior civil judge Mardn on Monday in order to record his statement.
He said that the senior civil judge Asim Riaz Khan had recorded statement of the accused Muhammad Nabi under section-164 Crpc when he confessed of his crimes before him ( the judge).
During his confessional statement, the accused told that he had attempted to sexually assault before strangulated to death the 4-years minor girl, the SP investigation added.
After recording the confessional statement, the relevant judicial magistrate sent the accused to jail on judicial remand for further completion of judicial proceeding, he said.
He claimed that they would soon present the accused in court of additional session judge Mardan after completion of Chalaan within one month stipulated period since arrest of the accused under ATC Act.
Earlier, the accused Muhammad Nabi was brought to court amid tight security as a big contingent of police had been deployed around different parts of the court premises.
The accused who was also close relative of the minor victim Asma and residing nearby her house, had allegedly attempted to sexually assault before her murder on January 13, whose dead body was found in nearby located sugarcane fields on the next day by locals and her family members.
