Assets case: Court adjourns hearing against Ishaq Dar until noon

ISLAMABAD: Accountability Court hearing corruption references against Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar, court adjourns hearing noon today due to the absence of Dar’s counsel, Khawaja Harris.

National Accountability Court (NAB) filed reference against the Ishaq Dar and as the hearing began on Monday, the finance minister appeared in the court amid tight security.

The court was informed that Khawaja Harris will be available at noon and Hussain Mufti, Dar’s associate counsel also appealed to exempt his client from the hearing today because of official work.

Judge Mohammad Bashir remarked on the occasion that Khawaja Harris can present the exemption arguments when he appears in the court and adding that the accused needs to be present when recording the witness statements.

Ishaq Dar appeared four times before this hearing, in the accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir. The Judge ordered a break and directed the minister to appear against in the court with his counsel Khawaja Harris.

Fourth witness of NAB, Masood Ghani of Habib Bank, will record his statement with the court today and then be cross-examined by Dar’s counsel.

Strict security arrangements are in place at the court and large number of police and Frontier Constabulary personnel were deployed.
