RAWALPINDI: Hockey Astroturf ground named after legend hockey player Shahnaz Sheikh has been completed in Rawalpindi under the auspices of Punjab government.
The Astroturf ground has been carved in Muslim High School opposite Municipal Stadium Satellite Town Rawalpindi. Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif will soon inaugurate this ground. However an exhibition hockey match will be played on February 05 on this ground between Shahnaz Sheikh -X1 and Manzoor Junior-X1. Prior to this exhibition match, a match between Women hockey teams will be played. Shahnaz Sheikh Academy will also soon be launched in this ground and Shahnaz Sheikh will monitor the functioning of this academy. Some civil work has yet to be done outside the ground, however, flood lights system and watering system have been completed.
