ATC rejects Imran Khan’s request to nullify terror charges

ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) rejected Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s plea to nullify the terror charges against him in four cases and send the case to a lower court.

The Anti-terrorism court is hearing four cases including attack on PTV building, parliament and the then SSP operations Asmatulah Junejo.

Babar Awan, counsel of Imran Khan pleaded before the ATC judge to remove the terrorism charges against the PTI chief and adding that how it is fair to register terrorism court when one protest with the sticks as it is the democratic right of every individual.

The state prosecutor opposed it and presented solid evidence against the Imran Khan for instigating the supporters to attack the state installations.

The ATC judge dismissed the request and ordered PTI chief to appear before it at the next hearing on December 19.

The court also extended Imran’s interim bail in the cases until the next hearing.
