ATC sentences Indian terrorist to 20 years in prison

LAHORE: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has sentenced an Indian terrorist to 20 years in prison after finding him guilty of terrorism-related offences.

The convict, identified as Usman alias Abdul Rehman, is a former Indian citizen who currently holds Afghan nationality.

Terrorist convicted after CTD case

According to the prosecution, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Lahore registered a case against Usman in 2024. During investigations, it was revealed that he had entered Pakistan through Chaman, using his Afghan documents.

Explosives recovered during arrest

The court was informed that explosives were recovered from Usman at the time of his arrest, confirming his involvement in terrorist activities. Following the evidence presented, the ATC awarded him a total of 20 years’ imprisonment.

Background

Prosecutors stated that the terrorist was a former Indian citizen and spy who later obtained Afghan citizenship. His presence in Pakistan and possession of explosives raised serious security concerns, leading to his swift trial and conviction under anti-terrorism laws.
