ISLAMABAD: The anti-terrorism court summoned Pakistan Chief of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan on Wednesday in Dharna violence cases including attacks on the Parliament, PTV office and former SSP Asmatullah Junejo.
During the hearing, ATC judge Shahrukh Arjumand rejected the Imran’s exemption from the hearing and remarked that Imran should be present in the court as verdict would be announced in presence of the accused.
Imran, Asad Umar and other PTI leaders were expected to appear in court for the hearing.
ATC had reserved its verdict on bail pleas after hearing arguments on the cases on April 10.
Earlier on 2 April, Imran Khan submitted his plea seeking exemption from the proceedings. Court accepted the plea in which Imran stated he was unable to appear due to an important engagement.
Imran and other PTI leaders are accused of attacking the Parliament and PTV office during the 2014 sit-in in Islamabad, as well as torturing the then SSP and violating the loud speakers act.
