Atmar, Wells discuss peace process, fight on terrorism

KABUL: National Security Advisor Muhammad Hanif Atmar and US Deputy Assistant Secretary Alice G. Wells discussed political and security situation in Afghanistan and the region.

The two sides held talks on issues in the follow up of Tashkent conference on Afghanistan and Kabul Process and stressed the need for strengthening peace process and fight on terrorism, said a press release issued by national security council here on Monday.

Muhammad Hanif Atmar the Afghan said peace process was enjoying regional and international support and the presence of regional and international consensus was a very important opportunity.

He said the Afghan security forces would continue fight on terrorism with full force and the families and foreign terrorists who were posing threat to Afghanistan, region and the world be eliminated.

Alice G. Wells announced support to Afghan government’s policies and termed the regional and international consensus on peace as very important.

The meeting also discussed several other issues.
