ISLAMABAD: Attorney General of Pakistan Barrister Shahzad Atta Elahi has resigned from his post citing personal reasons.
Shahzad Atta Elahi was appointed attorney general by the federal government after Mansoor Usman Awan refused to take the post.
On December 24 last, Mansoor Usman Awan, a young lawyer from Lahore, was appointed as the new Attorney General of Pakistan after President Dr Arif Alvi had approved his nomination as the country’s 37th Principal Law Officer but he declined the office.
Before that, Ashtar Ausaf had resigned as attorney general on October 12, 2022, due to ill-health.
