Awareness walk held in KKKUK against drug abuse

KARAK: An awareness walk against the drug abuse and extremism was held at Khushal Khan Khattak University Karak (KKKUK) here on Wednesday and the vice chancellor of the University Professor Dr Jehan Bakht said that youths were the asset of the nation to save them from destruction.

He was addressing to faculty, employees and students of the University after leading a walk in the University premises organized by the provost section of the University on the guideline of Higher Education Commission and the participants of the walk held banners inscribed with different slogans against drug abuse, terrorism, extremism and violence and radicalization of the students in the Universities.

While addressing to the participants after walk, the vice chancellor expressed concerns over the falling prey of the youths to drug addict very rapidly and intolerance was increasing in the society particularly in the youths. He claimed that our youths were the main targets of the elements who were selling drugs and added that the youths were misled by those elements against the development and prosperity of the country.

Dr Bakht resolved that the young generation would be saved by involving them in constructive and healthy activities and added that in very limited resources the students of the University would be provide the opportunities of tournaments, study tours and other such like positive activities to flourish the hidden qualities of the youth in right direction. Vice Chancellor stressed on the students to create tolerance inside them and said that only degree was not the purpose of education rather the education should bring change in the attitude of the students.

The vice chancellor stressed on the teachers that apart from imparting quality education to the students they should focus on their character building and training as well. He added that the teachers should treat their students like their real children so that they should not fall prey to the curses like drugs and extremism. He asked the students to use the social media only for positive purposes and resolved that the qualities of the youths would be channelized for the development of the country.

Later on, while addressing to the welcome party arranged by the faculty in his honor in the main hall the vice chancellor resolved that all the genuine demands of the faculty would be resolved by providing all kinds of facilities to them in the limited resources. He said that merit would be the only guiding principle for him. On the occasion pro-vice chancellor Professor Dr Mirza Jan and Khushal teacher welfare association president Muhammad Irfan also spoke to the party.
