Azam Khan reacts after being ruled out of New Zealand series

KARACHI: Pakistani batter Azam Khan has vowed to more focus on his game and fitness after he was not included in the national squad for the T20I and ODI home series against New Zealand scheduled to begin in mid-April.

His reaction comes after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced the squads for the series. Senior players, who were rested during the series against Afghanistan in Sharjah are back now. These players included Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, and Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Shaheen, who continued to cause uproar in the cricketing world, is set to make his comeback after a period of four months. As per the PCB, Shaheen had missed five tests and three ODIs after sustaining a knee injury during the ICC T20 World Cup in November.

Azam Khan, the son of former player Moinul Haq, had came under fire for his poor performance in the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. He had been named in the squad following his impressive performance in the eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL8) in which he played for the Islamabad United.

However, the wicket keeper-batsman could not maintain the momentum while playing against Afghanistan in Sharjah as the neighbouring country registered historic series win against the Team Green.

Now, Mr Khan took to Twitter and vowed to make hard work to get back a place in the national squad.

“Good luck to the boys in green for the home series, inshaAllah will keep working hard on my game and fitness to get back a place in the team,” he wrote.
