KABUL: The President of Azerbaijan Elham Aliyev during a meeting with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani has pledged to support Afghanistan in military and other sectors.
The Office of the President, ARG Palace, in a statement said President Ghani met with President Aliyev on the sidelines of the NATO leaders meeting in Brussels.
The statement further added that the two sides agreed to expand bilateral cooperation in development, military, fuel, and the mining sectors.
President Aliyev said his country remains committed to support the Afghan-led peace process.
He also pledged support in the military sector, particularly in repairing the military helicopters and providing military equipment, and extraction of mines.
In his turn, President Ghani said a joint delegation of Afghanistan and Azerbaijan officials should prepare a plan for the extraction of fuel and mines.
He said Afghanistan is interested to use the experience of Azerbaijan in the extraction of natural gas and fuel and urged his counterpart to invest in the mining sector in Afghanistan.
