LAHORE: Pakistan all-format captain Babar Azam appreciated young cricketer Abdullah Shafique and revealed that we compare him with great batters like Kane Williamson and Rahul Dravid.
“I personally watch and definitely enjoy Abdullah s stylish batting,” Baber Azam said while talking to a local newspaper.
“He plays very clean, his stance and the way he ducks the ball are impressive. Usually, we compare him to Kane Williamson and Rahul Dravid. We call him Dravid,” added.
There has been a debate over who should play in between Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood but Babar opined that the side finalised keeping the interest of the team.
“In the presence of Abdullah, the place of opener Shan Masood, another polished batter, may be in doubt, but our main aim in selecting an individual is the team s interest,” Babar added.
It is worth mentioning here that, Pakistan s emerging batter Abdullah Shafique impressed cricket fans with his solid technique during the home Test series against Australia.
The 22-year-old registered his maiden Test hundred in the first Test at Rawalpindi, followed by a 96 and 81 in the second and third Test, respectively.
