ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad has extended pre-arrest bail for Bushra Bibi, Omar Ayub and others in connection with cases relating to the November 26 protest and a demonstration outside the Supreme Court.
According to details surfaced on Monday, Judge Abul Hasnat Muhammad Zulqarnain presided over the hearing. Sher Afzal Marwat, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) former prime minister Abdul Qayyum Niazi and other party figures appeared in court. Applications seeking exemption from personal appearance were submitted on behalf of Omar Ayub, Zartaj Gul and others.
The court accepted all exemption requests and directed police not to arrest those named in the relevant cases until 13 November. A total of more than 246 bail applications from PTI leaders were under consideration. The court instructed all parties to present arguments at the next hearing.
Cases against the PTI leaders are registered in Ramna, Sangjani, Tarnol and other police stations.
