PESHAWAR: Spirited Bajaur Agency claimed the winner trophy after securing 44 points in the ongoing 3rd Governor KP FATA Youth Sports Festival being played on different venues of FATA and here on Wednesday.
FR Lakki Marwat took runners-up trophy with 35 points while Khyber Agency remained at third with 31 points. Director General Sports Muhammad Nawaz Khan was the chief guest on this occasion and gave away trophies and medals to the position holders athletes.
Players from seven agencies and six FRs took part in the athletic meet held at Qayyum Sports Complex with Luqman Khan of FR Bannu was declared as the fastest player of the Meet by winning the 100m sprint race, followed by Salahuddin of Khyber Agency and Iftikhar of Mohmand Agency.
In the 4X100m relay Bajaur Agency took gold medal, followed by FR Kohat and FR Lakki. In the 1500m race Shahsawar of FR Kohat won gold medal, followed by Aman Ullah of Bajaur Agency and Sail Khan of Mohmand Agency.
In Long Jump FR Bannu Luqman won gold medal, followed by Salahuddin of Khyber Agency and Zubair of FR Bannu. In the discus throw Ilyas of Bajaur Agency won gold medal, followed by Irfan Ullah of Bajaur and Rizwan Ullah of FR Lakki Marwat.
In the javelin throw Ilyas of Bajaur won gold medal, Tayyub of Orakzai Agency won silver medal and Asim of Khyber Agency claimed bronze medals, in the 200m Luqman, who was also declared as the best athlete of the Meet, won gold medal, followed by Salahuddin of KP Agency and Shoaib of FR Lakki Marwat.
In the Taekwondo South Waziristan Agency won five gold medals, three silver medals and six bronze medals by securing 110 points with first position, followed by FR Dera Ismail Khan with two gold medals, six silver and five bronze medals by securing 84 points and Khyber Agency got third position with 76 points.
In the Wushu South Waziristan Agency won first position by securing 95 points, FR Dera Ismail Khan and Khyber Agency with 74 and 55 points respectively. Bajaur Agency won overall trophy of the Weightlifting by scoring 25 points after winning two gold, two silver medals, Khyber Agency made 24 points with Khyber Agency secured 12 points.
In the Tug of War Bajaur Agency defeated FR Kohat by 2-0. In the Netball Khyber Agency beat FR Kohat in a thrilling match by 30-27. In the Table Tennis final Khyber Agency beat Mohmand Agency by 3-0. Ruhullah of Khyber Agency beat Salman of Mohmand Agency by 11-7 and 11-7, in the second match Zubair of Khyber Agency beat Naveed of Mohmand Agency by 2-0, the score was 11-9, and 11-7 while Naeem beat Anus by 11-7 and 11-5. In the Archery Israr Ul Haq of Khyber Agency won gold medal, Mudassir of FR Peshawar and Obaid of Kurram Agency.
In the Team event Khyber Agency beat FR Peshawar by 109-88 and South Waziristan Agency got third position with 44 points. In the Baseball Khyber Agency defeated Bajaur Agency by 5-4 in the final. In the female Table Tennis Bajaur Agency defeated Mohmand Agency by 2-0 while Muskan got first position in Archery.
