Ban on girls’ education is not permanent: Minister Nadeem

KABUL (Agencies): Acting Higher Education, Minister, Sheikh Neda Mohammad Nadeem, met with Markus Potzel, UNAMA envoy for Afghanistan, and his accompanying delegation.
The Ministry of Higher Education is committed to the rights of Afghans in the educational framework and is striving to work for the growth and advancement of the country with the protection of Islamic and national values, said Minister Nadeem in a meeting.
The enemies of the Islamic Emirate are criticizing the execution of Islamic affairs on the basis of higher education and the system as a whole and are using it as an argument to achieve their evil goals, he added.
Minister Nadeem stressed that an independent Islamic system has come to Afghanistan through the sacrifices of Afghans and will not accept anyone’s demands against Islamic principles.
Minister Nadeem assured UNAMA envoy for Afghanistan that the decision to halt women’s education is not permanent, but has been delayed for a short period of time due to external aspects, and the Islamic Emirate is striving to find a solution to this matter in the light of Sharia.
Potzel said that higher education has a direct impact on the economic situation of every country.
He swore to cooperate in the development of Afghanistan’s higher education and shared his plan for female education with the Acting Minister of Higher Education.
The Minister of Higher Education earlier had a meeting with a delegation of religious scholars from Egypt, Lebanon, Sudan, and Palestine and discussed in detail the education system of Afghanistan, among other topics.
