KABUL: Afghanistan is likely to play their one-off Test match against India in the southern city of Bangalore, The Indian media reported on Sunday.
The encounter will likely be played in June when the weather is generally pleasant in Karnataka’s capital, according to the newspaper, which said the event would take place before India’s brief tour of Ireland. Both Afghanistan — a fast rising cricket-playing nation — and Ireland were given full membership status by the International Cricket Council (ICC) at its annual meeting in London in June.
The Board for Cricket Control in India (BCCI) readily accepted Afghanistan’s proposal to play their first-ever Test against India. The suggestion was also supported by the two governments.
