Bara peace committee chief gunned down in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Malik Mir Alam Afridi, chief Bara peace committee was shot dead by unidentified gunmen near Hayatabad Toll Plaza in Peshawar on Saturday.

The officials told that Malik Mir Alam Afridi was shot by two motorcycle riders and the attackers managed to escape. Chief of peace committee was rushed to the Hayatabad Medical Complex where he was declared dead on arrival.

Afridi was a known symbol of resistance to militancy in the area of Bara tehsil.

This was the second attempt on his life, he previously survived a gun attack near Arbab Road in Peshawar in 2014.

Police officials confirmed that an FIR was registered against the attackers and investigators are working to gather evidence.
