BCCI defends Rishabh Pant

NEW DELHI (Agencies): The Board of Control for Cricket in India has come to Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant’s defence after he was accused him of match fixing as he was caught saying something behind the stumps in recent Indian Premier League (IPL) match. “No one heard what Rishabh said before that particular sentence.

The former commissioner of IPL Lalot Modi posted a video in which Delhi Capital’s wicketkeeper Rishbah Pant can be heard on the stump mic saying that the next delivery would be hit for a four. The very next ball was hit for a four by Kolkata Knight Riders’ Robin Uthappa off the bowling of Sandeep Lamichhane. “Maligning a young cricketer without even knowing the details is so unfortunate. A section of media allowed the social media to insinuate and vilify a young talent without getting into details,” said the official. Pant is known for his statements behind the stumps, earlier during the tour of Australia he came into spotlight for teasing Australian captain Tim Paine.
