Bilawal says solution of political battle against will be political

ISLAMABAD: PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari Wednesday said the solution of the political battle against the government will be political and said all the decision should be made by the parliament.

He said the government has been given a tough time by the opposition even with their fewer numbers, ahead of the Senate polls on March 3. The PPP Chairman said the government has faced embarrassing defeat in by-elections despite it attempts to rig the elections.

He urged all the institutions to stay neutral in the upcoming Senate elections and all the institutes should work under its own mandate. He said the PPP has always talked about democracy and the government should also be changed through a democratic process. 

However, he reiterated the stance that they will not sit idle till the government is sent back home. Bilawal said people are with the PDM and not with the government.

He said no one should leave the field open for anyone and they would continue to give a tough time to the government. “We know we are descending down on the battlefield with fewer votes. We know it seems our numbers are low.

But even with these small numbers, we are giving the government a tough time,” he said while addressing a press conference in Lahore alongside joint Opposition candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani. He thanked all the opposition parties for having decided to support Gilani on the election day.

“Senate elections will be a victory for democracy and for democratic candidates. And Yousuf Raza Gilani’s win will usher in a new chapter of democracy,” the PPP chairman said. “And then, at the end of March, we will have a march,” Bilawal said.

“The democratic journey for which we are all struggling will be taken forward. We are telling everyone: give this crumbling wall the final push.”

He said it was due to the opposition’s movement that the government has started paying heed to the people’s misery. Bilawal alleged that Prime Minister Imran Khan was using NAB for political engineering. He said the PPP still want to implement the Charter of Democracy.

The PPP chairman said the change in the constitution should come through the parliament and rued that the government never contacted any party for a change in the constitution as the rulers wanted to impose their will on the people through backdoor channels.

He hoped that the Election Commission of Pakistan would adopt a constitutional, democratic and legal course of action for performing its duties as every step taken under the constitution would bear fruit for the country.

 “Every Pakistani has fed up due to the increased inflation in the country as the inflation rate in the country is the highest in the region.

Even Afghanistan and Bangladesh are progressing at a faster pace than Pakistan.”

He said if a puppet becomes a ruler, the people have to bear the brunt of his incapacity.
