KARACHI: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that torture and violence against women and girls won’t be accepted and pledged that his Party will always be in the forefront for protection of our mothers and sisters across the country.
The United Nations is observing ‘International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women’ all over the world on Saturday. UN has found that Violence against women and girls is one of the most widespread, persistent and devastating human rights violations in our world today.
In his message on the eve of the Day, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that PPP has always brought, encouraged and passed legislation aimed at strengthening protection of women and girls. “PPP is the only Party where women feel more protected, respected and rewarded without any gender discrimination,” he pointed out.
With the support of masses, the PPP elected women as Prime Minister, Speaker, Ministers, Judges, Police Officers etc. First Women Bank was launched by Prime Minister Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and she also established separate police stations manned by the women for women, the PPP Chairman stated.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also extended support to the worldwide campaign led by UN Secretary General’s initiative UNiTE to End Violence against Women. Former President Asif Ali Zardari chairs meeting of Party Parliamentarians, leaders from Tharparker, Umerkot
Meanwhile, a joint meeting of Pakistan Peoples Party office-bearers, Parliamentarians, Local Bodies heads, and notables from Tharparker and Umerkot districts was presided over by the former President of Pakistan and President PPPP at Bilawal House Friday evening. PPP Women Wing President MNA Faryal Talpur was also present on occasion.
Meeting was attended by President PPP Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Home Minister Suhail Anwar Sial, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar, Member Central Executive Committee MNA Nawab Yousuf Talpur, PPP Mirpurkhas Division President Aftab Hussain Jillani, President PPP Tharparker Senator Gianchand, President PPP Umerkot Syed Ali Mardan Shah, Ministers Sardar Ali Shah, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Dr Khatumal Jeewan, Nawab Taimoor Talpur, MPAs, Party office-bearers, the elected Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the District Councils, Municipal and Town Committees and notables from both districts.
PPP leaders from Tharparker and Umerkot apprised Asif Ali Zardari about the political landscape of both the districts and the development projects carried out by PPP government in their respective areas.
Addressing the Party leaders, former President Asif Ali Zardari said that both Tharparker and Umerkot districts will immensely benefit from Thar Coal Project, which is going to change the fate of every soul in the area. He said that Thar Coal Project was the dream of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and hoped that it would be completed within schedule and start feeding coal-fired power to national grid by the end of 2019.
