Bilquis demands action against land grabbers for occupying illegally Edhi welfare centers

KARACHI: The Edhi Foundation demanded from the Sindh and Federal government to retrieve the land of welfare foundation from the land grabbers in various parts of the province.

The family of late Philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi held a press conference at Karachi Press Club. They said that the influential and powerful people have occupied the land of Edhi foundation and adding that one of the centers was occupied in the Sindh-Balochistan border town of Hub, for which they sought the Balochistan government’s intervention.

Bilquis Edhi and her son Faisal Edhi told media persons land grabber occupying the welfare centers as they were affiliated to some political parties and they destroyed the welfare centers and constructed commercial centers on the Edhi foundation lands.

They added that the National Highway Authority (NHA) awarded the lands of these centers with the written authority to set them up at any point on 200-square-metre belts of land on both sides of the highways.

Bilquis Edhi lamented that the land grabbers were occupying the foundation land to destroy the welfare organization and no one is here to stop them from destroying the welfare organization.

They listed all the parts of the province where the welfare centres have been illegally occupied: Latifabad town in the southern suburbs of Hyderabad city, Moro and Qazi Ahmed towns in Shaheed Benazirabad district, Sehwan city, Hala town, Larkana city and Hub Chowki in Balochistan’s Lasbela district.
