Biometric verification of Hajj pilgrims in last week of March

ISLAMABAD: The biometric verification of finger prints of intending pilgrims of Government Hajj Scheme will begin in the last week of ongoing month.

Official sources in the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony said that the intending pilgrims will be informed about their respective biometric schedule through telephone call or short messaging services (SMS).

The Saudi government has already declared biometric verification essential for all intending Hujjaj.

The process of biometric verification of intending pilgrims will be conducted at 26 centres in Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta, Sukkhar, Sialkot and Rahim Yar Khan.

The use of biometric system for private Hajj pilgrims intending to go to perform Hajj through private scheme has also been made mandatory.
