BISE Chairman says luxury vehicle for delivery of question papers: Drive Vigo to promote austerity drive in KP
PEHAWAR: The austerity drive announced by the PTI-led federal government does not seem to have any effect in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the chairmen of all the provincial educational boards, including Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Peshawar (BISEP), would drive expensive Vigo vehicles, sources said.
The price of a Vigo vehicle is said to be around Rs8 million. Sources stated that presently the chairmen of the boards are using cars worth Rs2.6 million each.
A meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of BISEP will be held on the 16th of this month regarding the purchase of the luxury vehicle.
Sources added that all eight educational boards of KP plan to buy Vigo for the boards’ chairmen. These vehicles would be purchased on the approval of BoG.In the meeting it would also be decided if the secretaries of the board could also use the same lavishing transport.
Talking to The Frontier Post over the phone, the Chairman of BISEP Bashir Khan Yousafzai said that there was no truth in news as the board was not purchasing the Vigo vehicle for the use of the board chairman.
He said that examination system in Chitral, Mohmand and Khyber districts comes in the domain of BISEP and needed Vigo vehicle to deliver the examination papers and other materials in time.
He added that the BISEP is an autonomous body and every board has its own BoG.The Peshawar board’s BoG consists of two Chief Minister’s representatives, University of Peshawar representatives and others. “BoG makes decisions and we do not receive any grant from the government” he added.
He maintained that an auction of three vehicles including a hiace, double cabin and a tractor trolley will be held at BISE Peshawar and a hiace and Vigo would be purchased.
The said vehicles had completed their life span that is why they have been put for auction, Mr. Yousafzai added.
He stated that Rs8 million has been allocated for the purchase of Vigo Hilux and a Toyota Hiace.
It is pertinent to mention that the BISE BoG meeting’s agenda includes approval of the annual budget for the fiscal year 2019-20, revised budget for the year 2018-19, approval of TA/DA rates, board fee, approval for increase in medical allowance for the board employees, creation of posts and others.
