Blast hits passenger train in Balochistan; six injured

QUETTA: A bomb planted on the track injured at least six train passengers in Balochistan on Friday.

According to security officials, the improvised explosive device exploded as the Akbar Bugti Express passed over it in a remote area of Balochistan’s Bolan district. Four passengers were wounded and moved to hospital.

A section of the track was destroyed by the bombing, which hit one of the carriages. There was no immediate claim of responsibility. Akbar Bugti Express is new name of Quetta Express which runs between Lahore to Quetta daily.

The blast came hours after a local leader of Awami National Party (ANP) died and his brother sustained wounds in a landmine explosion in Balochistan’s Nasirabad district. Police said it was and IED blast.
