BNP chief Akhtar Mengal meets Speaker National Assembly

ISLAMABAD: Balochistan National Party (BNP) chief Akhtar Mengal called on Speaker National Assembly (NA) Asad Qaiser here on Friday.

Asad Qaiser and Akhtar Mengal exchanged views over the prevalent political situation of the country and Balochistan. BNP leader Senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini was also present in the meeting.

Speaker NA and Mengal agreed to take steps for eliminating of deprivation of Balochistan nationals by the federal and provincial governments.

Qaisar said that the province was completely neglected by the rulers in past. He added that the present government was making maximum efforts for resolving issues of Balochistan. The speaker said that neglected segments could be given rights through comprehensive legislation.

On March 26, Akhtar Mengal had held a meeting called on by Prime Minister Imran Khan in order to remove BNP-M’s reservations with the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Disgruntled Akhtar Mengal and Jehanzeb Jamaldini had met the premier over emerging differences between BNP-M and PTI, sources in PM House said.

The six-point charter of demand came under discussion in the meeting, sources added.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had decided to hold important meetings with the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League Quaid, Balochistan Awami Party, Grand Democratic Alliance and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan, the coalition partners of the ruling political party, it emerged on March 12.
