LEEDS: A BODY has been discovered today in the search for a missing girl who vanished from a school in West Yorkshire.
Kekshan Rashid, 14, was last seen at Holy Family School in Keighley yesterday afternoon before she failed to return home.
Her school today paid tribute to the teen girl, saying the community was “shocked and saddened” by the tragedy.
In a statement, the school said: “Everyone at The Holy Family Catholic School was deeply shocked and saddened to learn of the death of our student Kehkshan Rashid yesterday.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this difficult time. We ask that you keep Kehkshan’s family in your prayers and that people please respect their privacy.
“We have professional support available in school for all students and staff affected by this tragic event and we will also continue to support the wider school community in any way we can.”
Earlier today, a police spokesperson said her “behaviour was completely out of character”.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Police searching for a missing girl have found a body in the Keighley area. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances to the incident.”
Kekshan’s family have been told about the discovery, cops said.
Before today’s search, officers appealed for anyone who saw her to contact them.
She was last seen wearing her school’s PE uniform.
Kekshan was described as being 5ft 4in tall, with brown, medium-length hair in pigtail plaits.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Farrell of Bradford District Police said they were “urgently doing all we can to find her safe and well” before today’s discovery.
