Bureaucracy should work according to laws: Ch. Sarwar

F.P. Report

LAHORE: Governor Punjab Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said that bureaucracy should work according to the laws prescribed in constitution as we have never tolerated political interference in the functioning of bureaucracy nor shall we tolerate.

Ch. Sarwar said that the bureaucrats should equip themselves with the latest technology and all relevant skills to cope with the rapidly changing world. Bureaucrats should work in collaboration with the government but their purpose should be to facilitate people in the execution of administration, they should work for the people instead of the government, he added.

He was speaking during a certificates distribution ceremony among 110 Senior Civil Servants for the courses of national management and senior management at National Institute of Public Policy on Wednesday.

The Governor Punjab said that steps being taken by the incumbent government have put our country on the right track which will lead to political stability and economic prosperity. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is ensuring transparency and meritocracy in the country.

Ch. Sarwar said that the purpose of bureaucracy is to run the state machinery. They should fulfill their duty with full devotion, dedication and patriotic zeal. They act as medium between policy state and the people. Therefore, vigilance at their end becomes of utmost importance.

The Governor Punjab said, “I urge all our bureaucrats to equip themselves with modern technology to dispense with their duties efficiently. By the grace of Almighty Allah, our country is on the right track and we all have to pull it out of the current crises and ensure good governance. I believe that our civil bureaucracy is determined to play their part to make this country great and prosper.”
