Burqa-clad kidnapper held in Nangarhar province

NANGARHAR: A kidnapper who was attempting to escape under the guise of Burqa was arrested by the Afghan security forces in eastern Nangarhar province.

The governor’s office in Nangarhar in a statement said the suspect has been identified as Lal Agha who was involved in a number kidnapping cases in this province.

The statement further added that the suspect was attempting to escape from Behsud district under the guise of Burqa but was identified and arrested by the operatives of the national directorate of security

This comes as there has been a sharp rise in kidnapping cases in the key cities and provinces of the country including Nangarhar during the recent years.

In the meantime, the provincial government said the NDS operatives have arrested two suspects having links with the Taliban group.

According to the governor’s office, the suspects have been identified as Abdullah and Mohammad Halal and were arrested from Sra Rod district. The detaind individuals were allegedly involved in the destructive activities in Nangarhar province and are currently in the custody of the security forces for further investigations.

The anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban insurgents have not commented regarding the report so far.
