Canada to resume Humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

KABUL (Khaama Press): Global News has reported that Canada intends to resume its aid to Afghanistan.

On Saturday, April 27th, the media outlet stated that a committee comprising representatives from various parties in the country’s parliament had urged Ottawa to resume humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

According to Global News, Canada’s Ministry of Safety report indicates that Ottawa plans to initiate this process by the spring of 2024 and aims to achieve total operational capacity for this initiative by the end of this year.

The report from Global News notes that “Afghanistan is facing a humanitarian crisis due to natural disasters, widespread insecurity, food shortages, and economic collapse.”

This comes as the United Nations, in its latest report on the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, has stated that over 23 million people in the country need humanitarian assistance.

Meanwhile, forced deportations by neighboring countries, including Pakistan and Iran, have worsened the already dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

The Afghan returnees, as a result, encounter numerous challenges, including inadequate shelter, limited access to clean water, insufficient medical care, and a lack of job opportunities.
