Candidates of presidential polls given election symbols

KABUL: The Independent Election Commission (IEC) announced electoral serial numbers and symbols of candidates for the next presidential election on Thursday.

According to a press release issued by the IEC, Rehmatullah Nabil has been placed at the first place while ZalmaiRasool has been given last number in the list.

The IEC also provided symbols to candidates for the next election.

The election commission would now provide budget and security for polls.

It is believed that the presidential election would be held with some delayed schedule if decision about peace is not taken soon. However, if the efforts for restoration of peace yield some positive outcomes, the election could be delayed for longer period of time.

The IEC announced the names of the candidates for presidential polls in the following arrangement.

5. Ahmad WaliMasaud

The IEC had received the final list of presidential candidates Wednesday. It announced serial numbers and symbols for the contestants through draw system Thursday. (AIP)
