Car bombing kills 7 in Syria’s Idlib

Monitoring Desk

IDLIB: At least seven people were killed in a car-bomb blast in Syria’s northwestern Idlib city on Saturday, according to a local civil defense official.

The bombing struck near a hospital in central Idlib, Mustafa Haj Yousuf, director of the White Helmets civil defense agency in Idlib, told Anadolu Agency.

He said seven people were killed and 25 others injured in the attack. There was no claim of responsibility for the bombing. Haj said civil defense teams were rushing to move the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Syria remains locked in a devastating conflict that began in 2011 when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on demonstrators with unexpected ferocity.

According to UN officials, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed in the conflict.
