ISTANBUL: Famous U.S. rapper Cardi B, who has been raving about the globally-acclaimed Turkish dramas Magnificent Century (Muhteşem Yüzyıl) and Kosem Sultan, wants to come to Turkey as soon as possible due to her obsession with the Ottoman Empire.
The star, who has often taken to social media to discuss Turkish TV series, confessed her desire during a live broadcast on Instagram with her husband Offset and expressed her interest in Ottoman history.
“I want to go to Turkey because I am very influenced by the Ottoman Empire. But someone (referring to her husband Offset) doesn’t want to fly for 16 hours! I can withstand 16 hours of flying, but I can also understand Offset. I will go there and visit a museum,” she said.
“The Ottoman Empire impresses me very much and I don’t know when but I want to go there somehow,” she added.
The breakout of the mega-hit Magnificent Century led to a boost of Arab tourists in Turkey with the show being watched by more than 500 million viewers worldwide.
It has also gone down in history as the first TV series bought by Japan. Approximately 150 Turkish TV series have been sold to over 100 countries, including Algeria, Morocco and Bulgaria, since 2002.
Entertaining more than 700 million audience from Europe, Middle East, Central Asia, Africa, and the U.S. so far, Turkey is expected to earn $1 billion in TV series exports by 2023.
