Case against judge’s wife for ‘torturing 14-year-old domestic help’

SARGODHA : Police have registered a case against the wife of a civil judge a day after reports emerged that she tortured a 14-year-old maid at her house in Sargodha.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police said the Humak police registered the case on the report of the girl’s father under sections 506 and 342 of the PPC.

On Monday, reports emerged that the wife of a civil judge posted at the Federal Judicial Academy, Islamabad tortured domestic worker, 14-year-old Rizwana who hails from 88 North, Sargodha. She was given a job as domestic help through an acquaintance, Mukhtar, at the house of the civil judge.

According to the parents of the girl, their daughter was employed six months ago. They said their daughter was subjected to severe torture by the wife of the judge.

They alleged that Rizwana’s body had marks of severe torture which was inflicted on her by the judge’s wife.

The civil judge posted at the Judicial Academy, however, said there was no violence against the girl.

“I am against violence,” he said, adding his wife’s gold was missing and she only handed over the girl to her mother as a punishment. He said there was no question of torure.

“The mother herself has beaten the girl,” he alleged.

The victim girl’s parents, on the other hand, allege that the judge’s wife beat her with a bat after accusing her of stealing their jewellery.

Meanwhile, Sargodha DPO Faisal Kamran said the girl had suffered severe injuries on her head and face due to violence and there was also swelling on her right arm.

The girl’s mother brought her back to Sargodha and she was administered medical aid at the DHQ hospital.

Kamran said the girl had been sent to Lahore for further medical assistance.
