KARACHI: Investigation in assassination attempt on MQM-Pakistan leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan has identified the killed attacker as Sohrab Goth’s resident Hasaan.
According to CTD sources, Hasaan was an engineer and his father Dr Israr is a lecturer. The attacker fell into a clash with political workers over the matter of extortion. CTD raided the residence of Hasaan and arrested his father and family members.
A case against the incident has also been registered in Counter-Terrorism Department. Sections of murder, attempt to murder, and anti-terrorism have been included in the case.
Sindh IG AD Khawaja has said that the suspect has been identified. He told that the probe is quite sensitive as the attack was a part of conspiracy against the country. “The enemies wanted to create political conflict and deteriorate the peace situation. The weapons have been sent for forensic test and the shells have been matched,” he said.
While talking to Britain TV channel, Khawaja Izharul Hassan while expressing his concerns said that close aides are suspected to be involved in the attack. He told that the prayer timings were kept secret and were only known to people close to him.
Khawaja Izharul Hassan did not refute the involvement of MQM-London in the attack. “Provocative statements are coming from London. Anything is possible in such a situation,” he said.
Menawhile, the video showing the citizens torturing the attacker has surfaced. Unidentified gunmen on two motorcycles targeted Khawaja Izharul Hassan early Saturday morning in Buffer Zone area in Karachi.
Khawaja Izharul Hassan escaped unhurt; however, three of his guards took bullet injuries, while one other was killed in the attack. A 10-year-old boy Arsal, who was a 6th standard student, was also killed in the cross-fire.
