Pakistani films improving with the passage of time: Bushara Ansari

LAHORE: Senior TV artist Bushra Ansari said that Pakistani TV dramas are maintaining their popularity all over the world and will continue getting viewers’ attention in future as well.

She said that strong scripts and better direction had been the main reason of popularity of Pakistani TV plays.

She said that like TV dramas, Pakistani film industry has also started journey of success and now it is producing very good films.

She claimed that newly produced Pakistani films are better than those being produced in India, despite local film producers’ meager resources.

Veteran TV, theater actress Madeeha Gauhar passes away

LAHORE: Veteran actress, playwright and director of social theatre Madeeha Gauhar passed away on Wednesday in Lahore.

According to the family sources, her funeral prayers will be offered on Thursday evening. The senior actress was suffering from cancer for the past three years.

Madeeha founded Ajoka Theatre in 1984 as part of her commitment to theatre for social change. Madeeha is the first Pakistani to receive a prestigious Prince Claus Award for her leadership and commitment for the Ajoka Theater.

Madeeha was married to veteran writer and director Shahid Nadeem and was the elder sister of renowened actress Faryal Gauhar. Her daughter, Savera Nadeem, is also an actress, director, and producer.

MUMBAI: The wait is finally over, as the much-anticipated teaser of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt’s biopic ‘Sanju’ is out and you cannot tell if that’s Ranbir Kapoor or Sanjay Dutt.

The teaser covering all stages of Sanjay Dutt’s life gives a glimpse into roller-coaster life of the Bollywood star.

The movie is the product of renowned duo Rajkumar Hirani and Vinod Chopra who had earlier gave films like ‘3idiots’ and ‘Munna Bhai MBBS’

The critics have called it one of the most difficult acting challenges for Ranbir Kapoor who had already proved himself as an established actor through movies like ‘Rockstar’ and ‘Barfi.’

Baaghi 2 has turned out to be a massive hit at the Box Office and Tiger’s stunts and mesmerising personality deserves all the credit.

Tiger Shroff fans will be happy to know that the makers had announced the third instalment ahead of the release of Baaghi 2. So the next in the Baaghi series is on the anvil.

Besides Baaghi 2, Tiger has Karan Johar’s Student of The Year 2 with newcomers Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria. And not just this, the young man has the official Hindi remake of Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo in his kitty.

Pakistani film ‘Shor Sharaba’ to hit cinemas on April 27

LAHORE: Sohail Khan producer of film ‘Shor Sharaba’ informed media persons that their film will be released on April 27 in Pakistan and Dubai at the same time.

Sohail Khan told media that the team did a lot of hard work pre or post-production period to make it a great success.

Meanwhile, the trailer of the film was released on Saturday and the premiere will be held before two days of the release of the film.

Rajpal Yadav sentenced to six months in jail in loan recovery case

NEW DELHI (Web Desk): Actor Rajpal Yadav has been sentenced to six-month imprisonment for not repaying a loan worth Rs. 8 crore by a Delhi court.

Rajpal and his wife who had taken the loan from a Delhi-based businessman for his directorial debut, Ata Pta Lapata, in 2010 failed to repay it. They had agreed to repay a sum of Rs. 8 crore with interest by June 30, 2011, reported Pinkvilla.

In 2013, Rajpal was sent to Tihar Jail for submitting a false affidavit in the case.

He was granted bail on a bond of Rs. 50,000. His wife was also held guilty as she had signed the cheques, however, she was not sentenced by the court.

The court asked Rajpal Yadav to pay Rs. 11.2 crore and his wife Radha to pay Rs. 70 lakh collectively in all the seven cases in which they have been held guilty.

“There are seven separate complaint cases filed by the complainant wherein the convicts have been held guilty under section 138 of NI Act. Cheque in question in each case is of Rs 1.5 crore,” the court noted.

Ali Zafar sends legal notice to Meesha Shafi over ‘reckless allegations’

ISLAMABAD: Meesha-Zafar brawl on Monday took a new twist after Ali Zafar on Monday sent a legal notice to Meesha Shafi over hurling ‘reckless accusations’.

The legal notice stated that Meesha Shafi had hurled reckless allegations at Ali Zafar and made false claims pertaining to sexual harassment. Ali Zafar—in his legal notice—demanded Meesha Shaif to issue an apology on media within 15 days. Zafar further warned against filing defamation suit worth Rs100 mln in session court if Meesha does not apologise.

Ali Zafar has also categorically dismissed all harassment allegations against him. Meesha, in a recent Twitter post, had accused Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.

“I have been subjected, on more than one occasion, to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences did not happen when I was young. or just entering the industry. This happened to me despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”

Arjun Kapoor and Parineeti Chopra’s Namaste England to hit cinemas in October

MUMBAI: Vipul Amrutlal Shah’s Namaste England has Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor playing the lead characters.

The film will mostly be shot in Mumbai, Punjab and the United Kingdom. Sources close to the film claim that the film will have the lead actors travel across half the globe.

According to a report in a leading daily, the story unfolds across Amritsar and Ludhiana in Punjab, moves to Dhaka, Bangladesh, followed by a portion, which will be shot in Brussels, Belgium, apart from sequences that will be shot in parts of London and Mumbai. The film was earlier slated for a December 2018 release. However, it has been planned to October 2018 on the day of Dussehra.

The duo will not just be seen in Namaste England this year. Arjun and Parineeti will also be seen together in Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar which is slated for release in August. With two films of the duo coming in within a span of 2 months, it will surely be exciting to watch their box-office reports. We wish Arjun and Parineeti all the best for their line-up of films this year.

Rajkumar Hirani appreciates Ranbir Kapoor performance in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic

MUMBAI: Ranbir Kapoor is all set to impress the audience with his performance in Sanjay Dutt’s biopic. It is being said the Ranbir has left no threads loose in acing his act in the film.

The actor’s look in the film has already garnered a lot of attention as the pictures of him that floated on social media have an uncanny resemblance with Sanjay Dutt.

The biopic is being made by Rajkumar Hirani, who has a close bond with Bollywood’s Baba. The duo has also worked together on the Munnabhai franchise.

In an interview with an entertainment portal recently, Rajkumar Hirani was asked about his views on Dutt’s biopic being deemed as Ranbir’s comeback to the industry, to which the director said, “He was always there, he never went away. He is a fantastic actor. I Loved working with him. I would like to work with him again.” Well, seems like the cinematic genius is mighty impressed with Ranbir’s work in the film.

‘Dabang 3’ to be full of entertainment,” says Sonakshi Sinha

MUMBAI: Sonakshi Sinha shared her excitement with the media that “Dabang 3’ is going on floor very soon and Prabhu sir (Prabhudheva) is directing it.

Dabangg was directed by Abhinav Kashyap and went on to became one of the biggest blockbusters of Salman Khan’s career and also established Sonakshi as a star from her very first film. In 2012, Dabangg 2 released, which was directed by Arbaaz Khan and it became one of the biggest blockbusters of Bollywood. Sonakshi was seen playing Rajjo again in Dabangg 2. Adding to our excitement, Sonakshi also said, ”The story is very exciting. It’s going to be full masaaledaar and dhamakedaar.”
Sonakshi Sinha is currently busy with Dharma Productions multi-starrer film, Kalank which has Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles.
