CENTCOM chief declares Pak nuke program in safe hands

ISLAMABAD: General Michael E. Corrella, the Commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM) said that Pakistan’s nuclear program is in safe hands.

According to the international media, General Michael E. Corrella, commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), said in response to a question in the Armed Services Committee of the United States Senate that he had confidence in the security procedures of Pakistan’s nuclear program.

The Commander General was asked in Parliament whether Pakistan’s nuclear program is in safe hands in the background of ongoing political instability and economic crisis in the country, he expressed confidence in the security of Pakistan’s nuclear program.

A close ally of Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asim Munir, Michael E. Corella expressed confidence in the safe command and control of Pakistan’s nuclear program without discussing the fear of political instability and economic crisis.

The commander of the United States military said, “I have a relationship with the military leadership of Pakistan and I have a good relationship with the Pakistan Army Commander General Asim Munir.”

General Corella said that Pakistan’s concern is its budget, the current financial and political situation, and countering terrorism.
