LAKKI MARWAT: The federal government has approved uplift projects worth billions of rupees in different sectors for southern districts so as to bring the backward region of province on par with developed parts of the country, claimed federal minister for housing and works Muhammad Akram Khan Durrani.

Speaking at a function after inaugurating dualisation of Naurang-Gandi road project in Naurang city, the federal minister said that the China-Pakistan Corridor Project (CPEC) was a game changer and it would usher a new era of development in Lakki Marwat, Bannu and other southern districts. “Under CPEC an industrial estate will be established near Bannu link road which will help to overcome unemployment in the entire region”, he maintained.

Earlier, the minister was informed that the dualisation of road project would be completed in one year with the total cost of Rs 700 million. An official informed that the completion of road project would help to ease traffic on busy Bannu-DI Khan road and reduce troubles faced by transporters and commuters.

Mr Durrani said that work on expressway from Kohat to Gandi chowk would begin in next month, saying that the dualisation of Indus Highway will help to provide safe, quick and speedy movement of public and goods transportation vehicles.

He strongly criticized PTI led provincial government and held it responsible for the backwardness of southern districts and deprivations of local residents. “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Parvez Khattak did not implement a single announcement he had made during his visit to Lakki Marwat as the residents of southern region are not human beings in the eyes of chief minister”, he alleged.

The federal minister claimed that the credit to approve and ensure provision of funds for raising of Baran dam and Kurrum Tangi dam projects went to the leadership of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl), adding that JUI-F leaders believe in the politics of serving people beyond their political affiliations and transform backwardness of southern districts into development and progress.

“The JUI-F will bury the politics of so called change and installation of tube wells and transformers as political bribe”, he maintained. He declared PTI chief Imran Khan the champion of liars for deceiving masses especially youths on false and hollow slogans of bringing change and making new Pakistan.

“What kind of change Khan and his party led government brought in militancy hit province where people’s sufferings increased manifold during the last over four and half years”, he questioned, saying that the religious parties alliance Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) will bring the real and genuine change of development and raising standard of people after ascending to power in coming general elections.
